When Dr. Marilyn Sorenson, a licensed clinical psychologist of 34 years and the Director/Founder of the Self-Esteem Institute was asked, “What is low self-esteem?” her reply was, “Low self-esteem is actually a thinking disorder in which an individual views himself as inadequate, unworthy, unlovable, and/or incompetent. Once formed, this negative view of self permeates every thought, producing faulty assumptions and ongoing self-defeating behavior.” As an organization, we agree with Dr. Sorenson’s statement.

It has been determined that low self-esteem is a thinking disorder where the person believes they are unworthy, unlovable, inadequate or incompetent. You'll often hear them say negative things about themselves. It starts young and grows and continues into adulthood.
The C4S G.I.R.L.S. Club is a life skills program developed by the Corner4Success Charitable Foundation. This program is open to girls 9-14 years of age -this is where low self-esteem generally begins. The program is dedicated to building self-esteem from the inside out. We recognize the importance of crushing the ill-effects of low self esteem.
